Day 31 - At Sea in the Pacific

Monday February 6, 2012

We set sail from Punta Arenas last night expecting to be in those heavy seas sometime in the middle of the night.   Sure enough the rolling woke me up and it was heavier than we had experienced in the Drake Passage, but not worrisome.  It took me awhile to get back to sleep, and Barry seemed not to be noticing any change at all.  When we went to bed we turned back the clocks one hour .  The sensation of cradle rocking makes me sleepy and I find I sleep very deeply in the rolling sea, and after a busy 3 days we were ready for some sea days.  We have 5 ahead of us before we reach Easter Island.

By morning we had altered course slightly, but it was still pretty rocky - and remained so for the day.  Apparently room service was crazy, as many people with mobility issues, or upset tummies, choose to stay in their cabins.

Erika, Karen and I went to knitting at 10 and pretty much knitted all day.  We decided to eat in the dining room so we wouldn't have to stagger across the floor to carry our food to our tables, Then we camped out in the Explorers Lounge for the afternoon.  Erika and I caught up on our blogs, then we knit and gabbed away the afternoon.  We skipped painting again due to the high seas.

Karen and Jonathan joined us for dinner in the evening and we all had a great time.  The stern (where we dine) is definitely interesting during the rough seas, as you can really feel the motion a lot more - but it just added to the fun at the table.

No pictures today.
